SEVEN DAYS ON A BOAT

FALLAS 2018

Its origin dates back to the ancient habit of carpenters, every March 19 (Saint Joseph, patron saint of this guild), to burn old junk that they had accumulated during the year in order to bless their workshops in anticipation of the spring season.

Little by little, this tradition became more popular until it eventually became a festival.

However, the spirit remains the same: to forget the sadness of winter and look at life from a more cheerful point of view.

Say goodbye to winter by combining the Fallas festival with sailing in the Gulf of Valencia.

Ancla SSanta Marinera

Holy Week at Sea

The Holy Week celebrations in Valencia are called "Marinera" because of their close relationship with the sea.

Since time immemorial, it has been celebrated in the Maritime district, and the initiators of these public manifestations of faith in the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord were fishermen and sailors.

Enjoy the popular traditions and sailing in the Gulf of Valencia.

Or if you prefer, you can enjoy the arrival of spring in the Pitiusas Islands.

Ancla Ruta Sal

THE SALT ROUTE

In May 1846, due to the blockade imposed on Barcelona by the Carlist armies during "La Revolta dels Mariners", there was a shortage of salt that endangered the city.

A well-known Barcelona businessman had the original idea of summoning the most famous sailors of the time and presenting them with a challenge: he would pay for their services transporting salt from the Pitiüses Salt Flats to El Garraf (Barcelona), but based on the order of arrival. The first to arrive would be paid in gold, but the last might not even be able to pay the sailors' wages.

Thirteen vessels took part in the challenge. The first to arrive was the “Maltese Falcon”, a 32m Baltimore schooner skippered by the Greek Andreas Potrus, followed by the xebec “Jerba” and the brig “Arrogant”.
